Start
If you have not already registered, please do so by following the link at the top of the BPTT homepage. Be ready to run at 9.00am prompt: the starter often gives very little notice.
Please do not stand on the bank next to the road before the start. Please listen carefully to safety announcements before the start and keep between the road and the trees on Chestnut Avenue (the first 1.1km).
1km
The 1km mark is about 100 metres before the first turn. During the winter months the track along the first kilometre is often quite slippy, and you may prefer to run on the grass.
Road Sign
Ah! the site of so many misdemeanours. As you approach the right turn at the end of Chestnut Avenue you will see two road signs (one on either side of the path): Go around the sign on the right hand side of the path. Some runners have been known to cut inside the sign, or worse, cut between the last few trees. Beware we often have spies out.
2km
No really obvious landmarks at the 2km mark. This would be an ideal stretch of path to spare a thought for the poor cartographer slaving over his hot computer. Many thanks,.. keep running!
Half Way
The half way mark is on the dog leg junction; Jiggle left then right and keep following the perimeter path. Do not exit the park through Hampton Wick Gate.
Bear Right
Just after the half way point you approach the cricket club; bear right staying on path and keeping the cricket pitch to your left.
Cricket Turn
Having run along one edge of the cricket pitch, turn left staying on the path, and run along the next edge.
3km
At the end of the second side of the cricket pitch turn right. Do not exit the park through Kingston Gate. The 3km mark is shortly after the turn.
4km
The 4km mark is level with the wooden horses in the childrens' play area. Occasional ice cream van / children / dog hazard.
Play Area Turn
After the playground, turn left off the path, keeping the play area on your left.
Bridge
Cross the bridge and turn right. Watch out for leaves, twigs and other debris on the path by the turn.
Posts
Just before you reach the road by Hampton Gate turn off the track onto the grass. Watch out for the line of low posts and take care as the surface changes. Go around the back of the last tree in the row.
After Posts
After going through the line of posts head straight up to the Diana fountain roundabout keeping between the road and the line of trees. Skirt around the roundabout at the bottom of the bank.
Last Tree
After skirting around the edge of the Diana fountain roundabout, go right around the outside of the last tree.
After Tree
After going around the last tree, it is now almost a straight line to the finish. Stay to the right of the newly planted trees.
Finish
The finish is now to the right of the old start line oak tree adjacent to the far end of the car park. A timekeeper will be on the line. As you cross the line please stay in order and keep moving. You will pass into a funnel and be handed a metal disk with a number (your finishing position). The disk is not a souvenir of the race - please take it to one of the post-race registration desks.
Desks
Please take your disk to any of the desks where your finish position will be recorded on one of our computer. Please hand your disk in, it is not a medal (even though you all deserve one!). The results usually appear on the website the same day, and you should receive an email with your time. Happy running.
