Welcome to parkrun.

We organise a series of small, friendly, weekly running events.

Athletes of all abilities are always welcome - everyone from beginners through to Olympians, and from juniors through to pensioners. You can never be too slow, but you can also never be too quick!

Each time trial provides the same course every week, and encourages a friendly level of competition. we offer you, the athletes, the opportunity to track your progress over weeks, months, seasons and years.

Want your own Event where you live?
parkrun aims to have an event in every community that wants one. The benefits of having one of our events in your community are:
·          The events are inclusive and anyone can take part
·          The events are free and simple to take part in
·          The events support local and central government strategy to improve the health of its citizens
·          Local councils desire to have events in their area
·          The events build a local community spirit amongst like-minded people
·          The events introduce non-runners to the sport and encourages consistency and persistence
·          The events help to grow club membership
·          The events are self-sustaining.

If you are interested in having an event in your local community and joining the parkrun family, then this is what you should do.
1.       Write to us with your request. Email paul@parkrun.com
2.       Approach the person responsible for Sports & Development at your local community and discuss the concept. We can provide useful guidance about this approach.
3.       Decide on a course – we will provide guidance on what to look for in a course.
4.       Decide on a name and a brand for the event – review Leeds HPTT for a view on how you can brand your event differently.
5.       Start building a group of volunteers. We will provide guidance on what to look for here.
6.       Plan the kick-off day

There are many background activities that we provide like ensuring the website, systems and software are available. We will work with you providing best practice to ensure that this all comes together at the right time.
