What’s happening at parkrun this weekend

What an amazing week for parkrun. We issued barcode number A1000000 at 7:49 on Wednesday morning GMT and then went on to issue another +4,500 barcodes since that time. I think this parkrun thing may just catch on.

My team and I spent last weekend in Moscow and experienced the wonderful hospitality of the local parkrun team. One thing that is very obvious when you travel to distant countries as a parkrunner and that is that we are all the same. It doesn’t matter what the cultural differences are, when you find yourself in a foreign land, the parkrun community ensure you are at home. That's priceless.

Jane, Richard, Alan and I would like to publicly thank Semen, Maxim and the other members of the Russian team who looked after us.

Now to this week. We welcome six new events to the parkrun fold this week. Welcome to Roma parkrun in Australia, Greenock and Buckingham parkruns in the UK all starting this Saturday.

We also have three new junior events starting on Sunday: Mile End junior, Brockwell junior and Huddersfield junior parkrun.

Good luck to all the volunteers and runners at these new events and at our existing events.
