"I am very honoured to be awarded a CBE. This award means so much to me. Not only is it recognition that I have done something quite special but it is also an acknowledgement for everyone who ever did something to further our aims. I feel that parkrun has been accepted by the establishment now and that our future is bright. I want to thank each and every person involved in making parkrun a better place, for forging our future and for caring enough to make everyone welcome at our events."
